The Victoria Bond Store which was constructed in 1887 originally ran from Lonsdale Street to Little Bourke Street and was the first building in Australia to have a wrought iron structural frame. It was designed by George Jobbins. Only the rear walls remain and are significant as a backdrop to Merritt's Place and consolidate the warehouse character of the corner of Lonsdale and King Streets. George Jobbins was the architect for this 5 storey brick warehouse which was built by J. Moore in 1887. The front elevation to Lonsdale Street is undistinguished but the side and rear elevations to Merrits Lane and Little Bourke Street respectively are good examples of functional simple brick detailing for warehouses.
